Battle Ready

battle-readyOn a beach almost 30 years ago a US President gave a speech commemorating D-Day, the day the Allies began the last push to restore European freedom. In this speech he tells the story of one Private Peter Zanatta as told to his daughter Lisa. She writes, “I know that my father watched many of his friends be killed. I know that he must have died inside a little each time. But his explanation to me was, ‘You did what you had to do, and you kept on going.’”
Jesus was killed to provide us with freedom. It’s our job, through the Spirit’s power, to pick up and use our biblical tools everyday to stay free (Gal. 5:1). Some days this will be easier to do than others. We’re in enemy territory fighting an enemy who wants to take our freedom away. Yet our thinking must be, “We have to do what we have to do, and we have to keep going.”
We know what defeat looks and feels like. How about we decide to learn and experience something knew about our awesome Savior today? The only way this can happen is to pick up our biblical tools each day whether we feel like it or not. Victory is gained by those who keep going one faith step at a time.
The President ended his speech by saying, “We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.” Let’s always remember what our Jesus did for us. Let’s smile today in great pride in who our Jesus is and what He can do for us. It’s now up to us, through the Spirit’s power, to keep our biblical tools in hand to be prepared for the daily battles we know are coming (Matt. 26:41). Let’s be battle ready today.

  1. I want to let you know your message came in right on time, as it did last week. The enemy was doing a dance around us and we almost caved in. I realize you cannot and don’t take any credit for how these messages are received, you are just doing what you have to do and we appreciate that very much. We know God talked to us through your message this morning and we heard Him loud and clear and we had victory once more, using our biblical tools. We are all truly are blessed and highly favored. through our precious Jesus!
