For those who know me, I have a hard enough time speaking English, let alone another language! 🙂 In my love for Jesus, however, I’m following Him by learning Hebrew.
In my study, I’ve found it interesting how many English words have snuck into the Hebrew vocabulary; such as: bank, park and plastic. Even less stellar words, such as @%#! words, made the cut as well.
I don’t say the latter as a good thing, either. Yet, it is an example of how powerful our words can be. Someone said those words. Others started using them. And presto, they’re now in the dictionary.
The words you use are powerful both in your life and in the lives of those around you. Ephesians 4:25 instructs us to “speak the truth with his neighbor.” Your words can end up in their brain, which can come out in their life choices. Choose your words carefully. They do influence people. Filter your words through Jesus to draw yourself and others closer to Him.

Belief in Jesus gave us the right to become secure children of God. The Spirit gives us the ability to cry out, “Abba, Father!” Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus also taught His disciples to pray, “Our Father who is in heaven.”
Paul was an apostle sent by Jesus Christ and God the Father. Paul writes, “Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
We have a relationship with both the Father and Son, not one to exclusion of the other, through the work of the Holy Spirit. We have peace with and of God the Father because of what Jesus did. Some recoil at the term Father. Yet, the Father has much to show us about love and sacrificing one’s will for the betterment of others.
Remember your Dad. He’s got a lot to teach you in a way only a Father can and should.

Life’s lessons come in all shapes and sizes. This one in the form a motorcyclist. I saw a gentleman on a motorcycle drive up on my right as we both stopped at a signal. The next thing I know, he turns right and then shows back up on the same street I was traveling on just before the light turned green.
He must have turned right, made a U-turn and then turned right to get back to “our” street. Funny thing is. About a mile down the road I caught up to him at a red light! All that extra gas and a potential hazardous U-turn all to end up at the same place I did.
You’re probably smiling right now because you’ve done something similar! God’s timing is perfect. Can we rest in His promises to change our lives or answer prayer while enjoying His presence at life’s stop lights? Or do we get ancy and rush ahead of Him all to end up in the same place at the same time?
We expend so much needless energy worrying while waiting that we sometimes move when we should stay. Waiting is not wasted time! Waiting can be protecting us from hazardous conditions ahead. Therefore, learn how to enjoy your relationship with the Father while you wait. It will save you both time and energy.

I live in an area of the world where kindness seems to be fading away fast. Then it happened. I was driving into the office. Traffic was light, but there were still times people had to merge into my lane. Even though I could have hit the pedal and made the person next to me get in line behind me, I slowed to let them in.
Normally, people just merge in and keep going like I had to do this. This time, however, the driver actually gave me a wave of thanks! I was shocked. I didn’t do it for the recognition, but it was still nice.
Kindness. It oozes out of those who listen to and follow the Spirit. I had every right to keep my place. Yet, in following Jesus, the Spirit enabled me to express kindness and it touched someone’s life.
I know this sounds trite. But how often do we go so focused on life that we can’t hear Jesus in the simple things, like driving to the office? Following Jesus in the small things can lead to huge results. I know it put a smile on my face!

I find it interesting what God said the moment Adam and Eve sinned. His first words were not, “What in the world did you do?” In fact, it wasn’t even the second thing either! No, the first words out of His mouth were, “Where are you?”
When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid or turned their backs on God when they heard Him walking in the garden. They couldn’t look their Father in the eyes. Yet, this is exactly what He wanted to do! He wanted to establish contact with them again. “I want to see you! I want to look into your eyes again. I love you!”
Our God isn’t carrying around a stick nor are his fists balled up ready to whack us when we sin. Jesus took that already on the cross, which should lead us to praise. The second thing it should lead us to is forgiveness to re-establish our connection with God.
Your God is approachable. He loves you and wants to walk with you in total peace. So instead of keeping your distance from Jesus when you blow it, ask His forgiveness and start walking with Him again. He’s the source of life, all the good stuff you were searching for when you sinned in the first place.
So, where are you today – looking into His eyes or at your feet? You know what to do.
