No, this title is not a mistake. I was reading Jeremiah when my prayer life was changed forever. The prophet was calling the nation of Israel, God’s bride and wife, back to loving her Husband. Through her worship of various idols, including burning her children to death, she was committing adultery. The Father put up with this for such a long time until He had to finally brokenheartedly say, “It’s Me or the door.” Israel choose the door – twice!
The church is called a bride. In New Testament times, a bride was already married; and, it was considered adultery if either one cheated on the other (Matthew 1).
Latest statistics show that only 9% of those who claim to be secure children of God actually listen to and follow Jesus. Stated another way, 91% of Jesus’ Bride are listening to and following either themselves or the world, both of which are idolatry, and thus, adultery. Are you the part of the 9 or 91%?
Ladies and gentlemen, living as a married single is over. It’s time to choose to be a better bride by being faithful to the One we say we love. We do that each day through each choice to filter life using the FREEdom process to better listen to and follow only Jesus, our loving Husband.

Listen to a Winner
You’ll enjoy what a home schooling dad recently wrote, “I started doing some math every day at the beginning of this year. I wanted to be working alongside the boys, and I thought it would help me understand their reality better if I was doing the same sort of work that they are. Plus, I’ll be their primary mathematics instructor as they progress, and it will be helpful if I go through a refresher on algebra and the like myself.”
What a picture of Jesus! The author of Hebrews wrote, “Therefore He (Jesus) had to be made like His brothers in every respect…for because He himself has suffered when tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.”
This dad could help his sons because he actually worked and solved each math problem. Jesus can help us because he faced and conquered every challenge we’ll ever face. Jesus walked in your shoes. It now simply comes down to, “Who are we listening to – a loser or a winner?”

Thinner Skulls
Surrender is series of choices, not a one off event. We often hear that we’re going to a worship service. This may or not be true. We worship our God every time we choose to listen to and follow Jesus. With each choice we make, we reflect or glorify Jesus in our lives, which includes our attitudes, words and actions.
We can worship Jesus at a church service if we choose to give Him thanks and praise, which are asked of those who love Him. This can also be done at work, the beach, the ballpark or anywhere for that matter. Each choice to express our love for Jesus is worship, no matter where it takes place.
Surrender is not a one-time decision. It’s a daily choice to let go of self to follow Jesus, whom we say we love. Our culture and world would look much different, if only more Jesus believers would get this into their very thick skulls.

Raise Your Sights
I dreamed last night that my wife and I were playing darts, which of course I won! :).
In this game, the bullseye was only one point with each succeeding outer circle holding greater values. We’ve been trained to zero in on and hit the bullseye; and yet in this game, this was exactly the opposite thing to do.
After waking up, the Lord spoke to me. Why was I aiming for the lower numbers, which only led to defeat? I needed to raise my sights to hit the higher number targets.
It’s the same with our walk in Christ. Why compromise for less than God’s best? Why do I tend focus on what I’m not (the lower numbered targets) rather than on who I already am in Christ (the higher numbered targets)?
I’m a secure child of God at this very moment because of Jesus. I’m already holy, a saint, in Christ. I have every spiritual blessing this very second in Christ. I may not be experiencing those realities for the time being, but that is where my focus should be.
We become what we focus on and what we focus on only gets bigger. Raise your sights to who you are in Christ…right now! As you do, you’ll have many more victories than defeats in the days ahead.

Fight On!
Give up or fight on is the choice we have when it comes to our struggle with our drugs of choice. This side of heaven, we live under tremendous pressure to quit the fight and just go with the flow.
DON’T!!! Quitting may be easier, but it never gives you what you seek – Jesus and all that He has for you. Be encouraged. Jesus will finish what He starts, so don’t quit on Him or yourself.
Jesus placed tremendous value on you when He humbled Himself to come live on this planet and then was humiliated to the point of death at the hands of His creation. He did this because He loved you then and still loves you now.
So let me exhort you as Paul did Timothy. Continue to “fight the good fight of the faith.” What Jesus has for you is worth it.
