Today is the Day to Appreciate

appreciateToday in America, hopefully all her citizens are celebrating and appreciating the freedoms that were hard won.
As believers, today and every day should be a day to celebrate and appreciate the freedoms Jesus won and gave to us the moment we placed our faith in Him. Yet, are we always thinking about what we want rather than what we have, right here, right now?
Always thinking about tomorrow can hinder us from enjoying the life Jesus  gave us Jesus today. This focus on tomorrow can lead to all kinds of bad choices as we tend to forget who we are and what we have in Christ right now.
Stay focus on Jesus today. Let Him bring what may tomorrow because He is a good God who “rewards those who seek Him.”

Failure Not an Option – Learning Is

failure“And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil. 1:6) The moment you became a secure child of God, the Father has been working to replace your character with Jesus’. This reclamation project will one day be finished, but not today.
Therefore, life will have its low moments of failure. Our obedience will not always be perfect. Here’s a word of encouragement and exhortation, however. We can either learn from our failures or repeat them, which is our choice this side of heaven, not whether we will experience them. And unless we learn from them, we will become them.
We are secure children of God that is who we are. We are not failures. Having said that, if we don’t learn from our failures, they will become part of our character that the Father will have to continue to hammer away at.
Let’s pray for each other. We know failures will occur. Pray that they are far and few between because we’re learning from them how to hear and follow Jesus closer the next time.

Everyday Relationship

mirror“In a place like Toronto, where hockey is almost a religion, the main distinction being that religion is something that matters only one day a week; whereas hockey is life, of every day importance.” I expect this from a non-Christian writer. Yet, this attitude is pervasive among believers.
As the Lord has enabled me to touch lives beyond where I live, I hear a very similar theme. Believers are relying on devotionals for their sustenance instead of the Book those devotionals are based on. Believers have little interaction with Jesus throughout their week, let alone their day.
My friends, religion puts a layer between Jesus and the believer. Religion is contained to one day (really only a very small part of it), rather than hearing from the Word of God Himself throughout their day.
Think about it. Do you want a one day out seven experience with Jesus? Pick up your FREEdom tools every day to hear from and follow Jesus. He is the only one of every day importance that will bring you life.

Powerful Words

conversationWhen you’re alone mind your thoughts, when in public mind your words. This powerful truth came to light as I was reading an article on the current situation in British education. It was stated that one has to be careful when the word “girls” is used with girls because of the transgender situation. Girls can be a bad word? Yes it can, depending on who you’re talking to.
This is exactly what Ephesians 4:29 reveals, “Let no worthless talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. ”
The key is who is listening to your words and how they understanding them. Are your words priceless or worthless? Words can bring either life (closer to Jesus) or death (separate us from Him), whether said to ourselves or to others.
Be careful what you say. Your words can actually affect a life for eternity!

Hitched to the Right Star

star nightDon’t hitch your joy to someone else’s star as they now control your life. If you’re making your joy, peace, security or any other need dependent on what someone else will do for or give you, you’ve effectively given them control of your life.
In Scripture, stars are used for actual stars in the sky (Gen. 1:16) and for metaphors. It’s interesting that both Jesus (Rev. 22:16) and Satan (Is. 14:12) are called stars, where the former rises and later falls.
Think on that for a moment. To whom are you giving control of your life – one that will bring you down or rise you up? Choose to be hooked to the right star – Jesus, the only One who can truly meet your needs 100% of the time. Yes, He may use people and things to meet your needs, at times, but it’s still Him doing it through them.
Choose to exercise the truth Jesus gives you by faith Spirit empowered. As you do, your joy levels will rise as you’re hooked to the Right star.
