Your God is Huge

Lundy Lake trailI thought, “My God, You are huge!” as I looked upon the beautiful mountain waterfall landscapes on my family’s hike up Lundy Lake trail. The total contrasting landscapes on this trail were nothing short of awesome and breathtaking. Our God is indeed huge!
How big is your God and how much of Him do you want to know? Be careful. Think before you answer. You probably know that He loves you. But what does that love really look like?
Let’s face it, much of what we call love these days does not belong in the same atmosphere with the love of God. We love our drugs of choice. We love how they make us feel. We love turning to others and ourselves to meet our needs. Hopefully you are getting the picture. We have a much distorted view of just one aspect of who God is, love.
In order to enjoy those majestic landscapes, you’re going to have to let Jesus take you places you’ve never been. You’re going to have to climb some very tough hills to see sides of Him you’ve never seen. You’ll have to use faith muscles you never knew existed. Yet as the Spirit replaces your worn out ideas/thoughts about Jesus with the “real deal” Jesus, you too will exclaim, “My God, You’re huge!”

Destined for Greatness

destinyYou were created for greatness! Adam and Eve were created with a job they could do as they lived in the presence of God. They were successful at it too…until they choose to turn their back on the very God who created them to do that job. They were destined for victory until they thought they could do life better without Him.
Crazy thinking, huh? Yet this is thinking we must overcome as well. When we came to faith in Christ, we were made winners, not losers; victors, not victims! We are created in Christ Jesus. We have been given a job to do by Him. Sound like we’re back in the Garden again? In a way, we are.
As secure children of God, we’ve been given both the mind and nature of Christ. We’ve been destined for greatness. We can experience victory everyday everywhere. The question is, “Will we choose to walk with Jesus in that victory as we live our daily lives?
Let the Spirit of God replace your stinking thinking with Christ’s winning thinking. In Jesus, you can overcome your drugs of choice as you are a victor in Jesus. It’s time to start living the destiny Christ has given you.

Your God is Good!

God is good 2“How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You bestow in sight of men on those who take refuge in You.” Psalm 31:19
Okay, it appears that we are on this planet for another year. Bummer! But I am processing that reality, are you? Our God is more than good, but this verse goes onto to say that He likes to pour out that goodness on those who do two things: fear and take refuge in Him.
Yes, we are tired and want to go home. Yet, He has given us another year to draw closer to Jesus and allow others to see Him in us. Let’s continue to realize that our God intends to do good, not harm, to those who love Him. And as secure children of God, remember we are only secure as we let Him tear down our strongholds (2 Cor. 10:4-5), our defense mechanisms, and replace them with Him.
May your continued walk on this planet be one where you continually realize that your God loves and will take care of you for your betterment and His glory.

Ready or Not Here He…Might Come

jesus-callingWords are important, especially Scriptural words. The words we use to translate the original words into our language can both hurt and help what God’s trying to say to us. One such word is, church.
I can only speak from an English speaker’s point of view. This word, church, has done a lot of damage as well as good throughout the world. The word comes from two words that mean to be called out from one place to another. In Ephesians 5:22-33, the Spirit calls Jesus’ wife, the church. Jesus is doing the calling. He is calling those who say, “Yes” to His marriage proposal out of the world to Himself.
He is calling us to listen to and follow Him everyday everywhere. He is calling us to move away from our worlds to be nearer to and like Him. One day, He will finally call us out of this world to be with Him in heaven or home. This can either be through physical death or through a loud shout from heaven (1 Thess. 5:16).
I believe this latter event is prophesied in the 5th of 7 Feasts listed in Leviticus 23. There’s an article in the Article section that covers this. When will this happen? I have no clue. But I do know the day is spelled out in the Feast of Shouts/Trumpets. And if it’s this year, it will be September 4th Israeli time.
Ready or not, here He comes…maybe. Hopefully, we’ll be meeting Him and each other in the air this coming Wednesday. If not, let’s continually get closer to Jesus by responding to His call to be near and like Him. The world needs to see believers listening to the call of Jesus to be more and more like Him rather than like them.

More Than One Way to Wash

washJesus makes us clean. He removes our stains. He takes away our blemishes. He makes it so we can enter the very presence of God where all that we’re looking for in life is found.
He does this by washing us. Some Christians will say He only does this through the written Word of God. They are sure to quote Ephesians 5:26 that states He cleanses us “by the washing with water through the word.” The question is, “Is this only the written Word?” The passage is talking about Jesus. Is He not the Word (Jn. 1:1)? Yes. Is He not also called the Word of God (Rev. 19:13)? He is.
Jesus will cleanse us by using both the written Word of God and Himself directly. This is a crucial point for believers to understand. Not everything that sets apart from the Source of life is sin. A quick study of Leviticus 12:1-5 shows that some unclean people, those who were not allowed in the Tabernacle/Presence of God, hadn’t sinned. In this case, the unclean person was a woman who had given birth. Having children is not sin!
Not everything that can hurt our relationship with Jesus is directly classified as sin in the written Word of God. Therefore, we need to develop our ability to listen to and follow Jesus, the Word and the Word of God, everyday everywhere. We can be okay as far as Scripture is concerned; but at the same time be hurting our relationship with Jesus. If want a closer walk with Jesus, we must learn from Him directly as well as from the written Word of God.
Keep picking up and using your biblical tools each day. You’ll get better at listening to Jesus in His Word and in your heart.
